Hi everyone! This week President and Sister Christensen said
goodbye, and the Lewis's came! It was so fun to meet them on Thursday at our
Zone Conference and see them several other times this week! They actually came
to my branch on Sunday by surprise and it was so fun! It was their first Sunday
church experience in Cambodia and I was happy I got to be their translators the
entire time. Our investigator, Ranit, was confirmed, and President Lewis
participated in the confirmation. It was so special! The Elders also had a
baptism in our branch so they stayed for that as well. It was all-around and
awesome day at church, and the members absolutely loved it.
I also realized when I was sitting with Sister Lewis during
the baptism that I once was in the Gilbert Temple with her and President Lewis.
Before the Gilbert temple was dedicated, they led the very last tour group
through the temple with a group of youth who had helped put the shoe coverings
on everyone's feet. My sister, Hannah, and I were able to tag along because it
was just for the Gilbert Stake (President Lewis was the stake president of the
Gilbert Stake at the time). We got to go through every single room and he and
Sister Lewis gave a little mini devotional in every single room. I remembered
this yesterday and it was so cool to think that at that time, I was in the
temple with my future mission president. The world is so small, and now we are
hear working together to bring the gospel to the people in Cambodia!
Update on my companion: She is still sick but improving. We
have been working really closely with Sister Lewis to get her feeling better
and to stop throwing up every day. Thanks for all your prayers and words of
support! I love you all!
Gospel Principle: The Savior's Earthly Ministry
(sorry I havent done it in a while)
I dont have a lot to share today but I have some commitments
to give everyone.
Read about the main roles of Jesus Christ roles on the
earth:
~Atoned for the sins of all mankind- Luke 22: 39-46, Luke
23: 33-49, Alma 7: 11-13
~Overcame death- John 20: 1-18
~Showed us the way to receive eternal life; example - John
13: 1-17, 3 Nephi 11
My favorite verses of the entire Bible from the ministry of
Jesus Christ are John 18: 33-37 when he is being judged by Pilate before he is
condemned to be crucified:
33 Then Pilate entered into the judgment hall again, and
called Jesus, and said unto him, Art thou the King of the Jews?
34 Jesus answered him, Sayest thou this thing of thyself, or did others tell it thee of me?
35 Pilate answered, Am I a Jew? Thine own nation and the chief priests have delivered thee unto me: what hast thou done?
36 Jesus answered, My kingdom is not of this world: if my kingdom were of this world, then would my servants fight, that I should not be delivered to the Jews: but now is my kingdom not from hence.
37 Pilate therefore said unto him, Art thou a king then? Jesus answered, Thou sayest that I am a king. To this end was I born, and for this cause came I into the world, that I should bear witness unto the truth. Every one that is of the truth heareth my voice.
34 Jesus answered him, Sayest thou this thing of thyself, or did others tell it thee of me?

To me, this encompasses the entire ministry of Jesus Christ.
It has also given me strength in times of heartache and sadness. I know that
Jesus Christ is my Savior and Redeemer, and he is the Light and Truth of the
world. I know that all who follow Him will come to know the truth of all
things, and find happiness, peace, and joy they cannot comprehend. I love Him,
and I know that He lives!
Love, Sister Bashford
