May 30th, 2017 First Week!!

Hello everyone!!

I survived the first week of the MTC! It has definitely been challenging, but so worth it. I am loving it here! Also, I apologize for all of my grammatical errors, I have limited time and am typing at rapid speeds. My district is 5 people, three other sisters and one elder. My companion is sister Davis and she is awesome! Our zone is our district combined with the Thai district, and one elder speaking Mong. We are supposed to getting a new batch of Vietnamese speaking missionaries in the next few weeks as well.

The Cambodian language (Khmer) is SO HARD. Every word sounds the same. The one thing I did not expect was for my teachers to speak Khmer to me right when I walked in my classroom and they NEVER speak english. If we don't know what a word is they will write it on the board and then we have to memorize it. I have gotten better at understanding what they are saying because they speak super slow and act out almost every word they use. They are all return missionaries that served in Cambodia so they are super young and cool. They are maybe a few years older than me. But my class is just us 5 so its easy to ask questions and feel comfortable. The Thai district has 15 people in a classroom and I feel so bad for them.

We taught our very first lesson on FRIDAY (two days after I came into the MTC) but we were not allowed to speak in english, we had to speak in Khmer!! I was a hot mess, but my companion is so good with the language and hopped right on it. It is great to have her so I don't have to worry too much about messing up with the investigator, she helps me out.

Other than that it has been great! I miss all of you and am so grateful for all of the love and support I have received!!
