Hello everyone!!
No, Cambodia doesn't hate me, but the food might be trying
to kill me. My stomach has been hurting so bad the last week and I have
probably sat on the toilet for a total of three hours while drinking
pepto-bismol through a straw. Hopefully I will grow a steel stomach and be able
to eat this Khmer food sooner than later.
My language skills have been picking up and I can do a
little more than just bare a testimony of what we are teaching at the end. I am
so glad that the Lord is blessing me every single day in learning this
language! My favorite thing to do is compliment the girls and older women at
church and they think it is so funny :)
Other than horrible bowel issues, everything has been so
awesome!! We committed three more people to baptism and have at least one
baptism every weekend for the next month! We could not be more excited about
bringing people into the waters of baptism and having their lives change
through their faith in Jesus Christ! The Khmer people have such simple
testimonies but they are so strong. From what I could understand from the two
testimony meetings yesterday, the members here in Cambodia love the gospel so
much and it brings so much joy into their lives. I am so blessed to be a part
of that and help them find so much happiness! My favorite lesson to help teach
people is the Plan of Salvation, or the Plan of Happiness. I love seeing the
wheels turn in their heads and the light come into their eyes when they realize
that we will live with our families forever and live with our Father in Heaven
again. The work is progressing so much and it amazes me how God puts
people in the exact path they need to be in to here the gospel.
I love all of you and am so grateful for all the emails of
support! I feel so bad that I don't have time to answer but I read and love all
of them!! You are all so amazing!
Love, Sister Bashford
Side note to Mom: If you are ever starting to put a package together, send me tootsie rolls, and any other american food/candy that wont melt when you send it because all the candy here has menthol in it just like Brazil which isnt bad but you know, no one wants to eat cough drops for 16 months and pretend its candy :)
