June 13th, 2017

Hi everyone!

Wow this week has been such a roller coaster. Everyone told me coming on a mission would be so hard, but I didn't realize how hard it was going to be. But I wouldn't be here if I didn't know for sure that the church is true and that I want others to have the same joy and happiness I have from knowing the Gospel of Jesus Christ!
Some cool highlights from this week: I stood about 20 feet away from President Utchdorf on Sunday; he is one of the members of the First Presidency of the Church! He has here touring the new buildings, and I am pretty sure I was in the background of some of the pictures of him the MTC president took by a statue. I'm going to be famous.
On Wednesday I got to host some of the new missionaries coming into the MTC and it was seriously so fun! I am so glad my family didn't drop me off because it was heart breaking having to rip daughters from their families, knowing they won't see each other for 18 months. But it was great helping them feel welcomed and loved for the first half hour they were at the MTC.
We also got our new name tags for when we go to Cambodia! We aren't allowed to wear them at the MTC because no one can read them (I can't either) so we have to wear our english tags for the next 6 weeks.
The language is coming along, but ever so slowly. We taught 5 lessons last week, including our first TRC, which is when you teach a lesson to some members and get to practice speaking your language with someone other than your teachers. It was so fun because it was with a bunch of return missionaries going to BYU.
Other than that, this week has pretty much been the same! I have had so many low times, but the fun times I have with my district and the Spirit I feel every day far outweigh the bad times. I love this Gospel and I am so happy to be serving a mission!! I love you all and love hearing from some of you each week!

2. I tried writing "I love you" in Khmer, in a few months I will tell you if I did it right :)
