Hello everyone!!
I hope you all are having an awesome fourth of july!! In the
MTC, we don't do much to celebrate except on Saturday we got to stay up late
and watch the fireworks from the Stadium of Fire. I am still trying to make up
for the lack of sleep, but it was super fun nonetheless.
This week was so awesome!! Last Tuesday we heard from Elder
Bednar at the devotional, but the thing we weren't expecting was Elders
Holland, Anderson, Christofferson, Rasband, Stevenson, Renland, Oaks, Ballard,
and Cook also being on the stand!! It was seriously such an amazing experience
being in front of 10 of the Lord's 12 Apostles.
On Thursday, Sister Davis and I were chosen to help give
tours to General Authorities of the new MTC buildings, and they were seriously
so fun. On our last tour, President and Sister Martino (The MTC President and
Wife) asked if they could join our group. Sister Davis and I were so nervous
but we had so much fun with them and the people we gave tours to. One cool
thing about it is that at the end of the tour, we show a short video of what it
is like being a missionary at the MTC and my old bishop, Bishop Barrett from
the University YSA Ward was in it, as well as a friend from ASU and Elder Kwao,
and Elder that had served in my home ward in Chandler and was one of my
favorites. Seeing people from home in that video made me feel a little homesick
but it was awesome!!
Something crazy that is happening this week is we are
getting 40 new missionaries in our zone!! 18 going to Vietnam and 22 going to
Thailand! Out of those 40, 6 are Sisters. It's crazy to see the amount of
Elders coming in now that high school has been out for over a month. We are
getting over 700 new missionaries tomorrow so hopefully I will be able to get
food in the cafeteria; I barely have time as it is because the lines are so
long.
The language is coming along great! I have almost the entire
First Vision memorized in Khmer, and I can read a lot faster than I could last
week. I try to memorize 10-20 new words every day, and it's a miracle I can
remember them because they all basically sound the exact same to me. Everyone's
prayers have helped so much and I cannot thank you all enough. I love all of
you and am so grateful for the support I have been shown here at the MTC!!
Have an awesome week!
Sister Bashford
