February 18, 2018: BEST BAPTISM EVER

Subject: BEST BAPTISM EVER
HEY EVERYONE!!

Transfer calls were last night and you'll never believe it, Sister Jennings and I are staying TOGETHER, BUT we are WHITE WASHING Takhmou!! We are going to be in a trio for a week with one of the Khmer Sisters while she is waiting to go to the Manchester MTC! It's crazy we are staying together, but even crazier we are both leaving our area to be white washed, and white washing another area! We are so sad to be leaving SMC because our area is booming right now but we are excited for the new adventure!

So remember last week when I said I was the only one in my house who hadn't gotten sick? Ya i jinxed that so bad. I was deathly sick all Wednesday and Thursday, and only left the house for English class and to teach two lessons. It was pretty miserable, but the thing that kept me going was that CHENG EY WAS GETTING BAPTIZED!! She passed her interview on Friday with flying colors and was so prepared. I seriously have never seen someone so excited and nervous for a baptismal interview. She had been studying her scriptures like crazy and praying all week to do well for it. On Saturday, her and a family of the Elders in SMC 2 were BAPTIZED!! Before, she showed up with some homemade spaghetti with squid which was SO good, probably some of the best spaghetti I have ever tasted (might start making it with squid at home), and we watched the video of when Jesus Christ was baptized.
At the baptism, the talks were awesome, the Spirit was so strong, and the baptisms were so smooth. Afterwards, each person who was baptized bore their testimonies, and Cheng Ey went last, she was so nervous but she did great and when she sat down with me, she just started bawling. I thought it was because she was so scared to speak and at the end of the service, I asked her what was wrong, and she said, "Sister, I have never been so happy in my life, Jesus Christ has changed me." You had best believe I started crying and we hugged each other for a long time. Her example to me is so amazing. I have never seen someone so changed by the Gospel. She expressed to us that she feels like before, she had a happy life, a great family, and great friends. But since she has learned about the Gospel of Jesus Christ, she has never been so happy and full of love in her whole life. She said she knows that Heavenly Father loves her so much and will lead her on the path the return to Him again and live with Him and our Savior. I have been reflecting a lot about her and how much of an influence she has had on me. The Gospel is so simple yet so profound. It is so simple, because God only requires that we love Him and keep His commandments. When we do those things, the blessings are so profound in our lives. Through a knowledge of our Savior, we can find true joy and peace in our lives. We know that we can live with our families forever in God's Kingdom with everlasting happiness and glory. We know that we can literally become like God and receive everything that He has. I cannot think of a more simple yet profound promise between us and our Supreme Creator. I know that the Gospel of Jesus Christ is true, and it is changing lives every single day. Not just making people happy for a little while, but giving God's children never ending strength and joy. Through the Gospel of Jesus Christ we will never thirst, because we will be able to drink of Jesus Christ's everlasting water.
I love all of you, and hope you can all remember to put God and Jesus Christ first in your lives! I can promise from experience that you will always find true happiness!
