Subject: Happy Khmer New Year!
Kind
of weird that Khmer New Year is in the middle of April, but I am ok with it!
It's just another reason for Khmer people to vacation and party! To celebrate,
we had a branch activity in Keansvay and it was seriously so much fun. On
Saturday we biked around our entire area for 8 hours to get to know it better
and find new roads to contact and such. It was so fun because everyone was out
for the celebrations. One tradition they have is on the roads, the stop people
passing by on motos or cars (for our case, bikes) and squirt them with water
guns and throw baby powder at them and sometimes ask for money. Everyone is
drunk from 9 am until the sun goes down, and I will have to say it was one of
the most entertaining days of my entire mission. I came home so wet (from water
guns and sweat) and covered in baby powder, and poor Elder Burnett got beer
poured all over him. But all of us agreed it was one of the funnest days ever.
I think Khmer holidays are much more fun that American holidays. We need to
start a holiday when we can just chase each other around and squirt each other
with water guns and get a week off of work :) Then yesterday, we had interviews
with President and we squished 6 missionaries into one tuk tuk. We have three
large Elders in our district so it was one of the most interesting rides to the
city :) I am super excited for this upcoming week, because we have two exchanges
and we are going to be so busy! I will update you with all the good stuff next
week! I love you all and I hope you are happy and healthy!
